Local MP Tessa joined a large group from the West Country at the Genesis Centre in Taunton to discuss how to meet our future energy needs whilst protecting the environment.
Tessa spoke about “Facing the Electorate, Facing Down Vested Interests” which sparked a lively debate about the role and influence of a 2010 intake MP in a Coalition Government.
The ‘Energy Future’ event was hosted by the Transition Somerset group, with a whole day celebrating local power projects, discussing local energy issues such as Fracking, Nuclear Power and harnessing Severn tidal power as well as looking at potential local solutions.
After this successful and popular event Tessa said “Having an excellent Secretary of State in Ed Davey gives us our best opportunity to plan for the future of the UK energy supply whilst reducing our carbon emissions. We must do all we can to increase our use of renewable energy but reduce demand and close the threatened energy gap.”
