Tessa Munt MP recently joined volunteers with helping to repair part of the village pound wall in Rodney Stoke. The spectacular weather was ideal for the project as lime work in particular is not helped by heavy rain or frost.
Tessa said “Construction and repair of old walls using lime is an important old skill that we mustn’t lose so I was very pleased to help this enthusiastic group of people in such a useful activity.”
The restoration of the wall was organised by Rodney Stoke Parish Council with support from the Mendip Hills AONB Unit.
The weekend was led by Woodlouse Conservation Limited – specialists in traditional lime work.
The work was funded by the Mendip hills AONB Sustainable Development fund.
